Probate:
Probate is the court supervised procedure of settling the estate of all deceased persons. The estate of one who has died consists of the property of that person upon death.
In a probate, the court will make sure that your personal representative (also known as an Executor) will identify your property, pay your debts, identify your heirs and distribute the property to your heirs in the manner you directed. The "personal representative" is usually a relative or close friend in whom you have absolute trust. The personal representative will work with your estate attorney to make sure everything is done correctly.
